Be proud to play rounds at The Oaks Golf Course, designed by Greg Martin. With more than 25 years experience in Golf Course Architecture, Greg Martin has worked on a wide range of projects, including renovation, remodeling and new construction for public, private, daily fee and residential golf course communities as well as golf facility feasibility, site analysis, land planning and master improvement planning. “The golf industry has witnessed remarkable growth and transformation, but little has changed in the game itself. Golf is about golfers and the wondrous places we play – the simple interaction of man and nature with friends, family or competitors. Our goal is to make that interaction remarkable.”
— Greg Martin
Our 6,736-yard course is par-3 strong, with its varied par-3s, par-5s, and nine (rather than the standard 12) par-4s is a living testament to Mr. Martin’s talents.

Since 1987, Greg has devoted himself to golf course architecture, promoting a style that is based upon the unique environmental qualities of the site, as well as the client specific needs. In addition to golf related projects, Greg has experience with land planning and landscape architecture for large residential communities, multiple family projects, regional parks, recreation based projects and urban design.
“It is always my intention to use 18 holes to a tour a property, using golf to explore the landscape that may otherwise be unnoticed or undiscovered.
A property as varied as The Oaks needed multiple routing plans to expose the site most appropriately. Ultimately, golf shouldn’t be hard, but it should be challenging, engaging and beautiful. Exposing the perse landscape was easy, but producing an engaging 18 hole tour was challenging.
Greg has traveled to Ireland and Scotland studying and playing many of the most revered and distinguished golf links. These courses, including Ballybunion, Old and New, The Old Course at St. Andrews, Prestwick, Western Gailes, and Turnberry were inspirational and contribute greatly to Greg’s understanding of golf’s history, origin and design philosophy.
“The Oaks presented some interesting challenges [wetlands restrictions, Koshkanong creek, highway effects, etc.] but the topographic and vegetative variety of the property was fantastic. Fitting 18 holes within the property was a challenge, but The Blaska family was very supportive in exploring unique options like six par-3’s and five par-5’s, including back-to-back par 5’s on the front.”
“Additionally, the size, sweep and vistas of the property required larger features, shallow bunkers, small greens, tiny tees and “abrupt” topographic elements that would be lost in the landscape and needed to be properly scaled.
“John Blaska’s intention was to develop a golf course that was appropriate treatment for the landscape as well as a engaging golf experience. I believe we accomplished that.”
