“The Oaks Golf Course will tempt the better golfer and treat the average player. This beautiful pastoral tract of land located just outside of Madison is in a setting featuring rolling terrain, century-old majestic oak trees and the winding Koshkonong Creek. The variety and distinction of each hole will require a thoughtful approach - the signature of a great golf course.”
After reading that kind review, you’ll understand why it’s called The Oaks Golf Course. We not only offer a beautiful setting for a golf course, but the course itself is a testament to the love of his families property demonstrated by the owner John Blaska, and the confidence he placed in architect Greg Martin in shaping this wonderful tract of land into a joyful recreational respite.
Our public golf course, a stone’s throw from anywhere in Madison, is a pleasure for golfers of any skill level to play. The Oaks Golf Course, which is a par 71, will challenge you while providing a relaxing, picturesque backdrop. Test your accuracy with our fairways, water hazards and sand traps; we have everything you need to challenge you and improve your game. All in all, our goal is to provide you with a quality experience that includes exceptional service and a comfortable atmosphere.
Designed by Greg Martin, the 6,736-yard course is par-3 strong. Six varied par-3s are mixed with 5 par-5s and 9, rather than the standard 12, par-4s to yield a par-71. Bent grass fairways, tees and greens give the tract a country club feel, as does its thick rough and true-rolling putting surfaces.
Here at The Oaks, you’ll find unique bunkering, wide landing areas in fairways and quality, uniquely-sloped greens, all set naturally into the surrounding landscape. And as the name implies, you find over 250 mature oak trees dominating the property.
“It was owner John Blaska’s intention to develop a golf course that was appropriate treatment for the landscape as well as an engaging golf experience. I believe we accomplished that.”
— Greg Martin, architect, The Oaks Golf Course
Not long after The Oaks opened its doors (June, 2003) did Golf Digest ranked it #5 on their "Best New Affordable Golf Courses" list. The golf community around the country became aware of what golf enthusiasts in this area already knew!
